Danse des Poupées

2018

“Danse des Poupées” is a miniature installation project referencing the Impressionist artist, Edgar Degas. This artwork builds upon inspiration from the paintings and sculptures of ballet dancers, which form the bulk of his work. I wanted to create a spectacle of the dancers during the rehearsal phase of the routine within the dance studio, reminiscent of his images capturing the girls mid-practice. I wanted to convey the cheerful and airy emotions and enjoyment of dance through the diorama, and give the audience the entertainment of a show on a minuscule scale.
